Bishop Benjamin Pure Commends Teacher Aide as a Responsible Profession

A teacher’s assistant or a teacher aide is an important position in any classroom. The aide helps in supporting the learning environment of a classroom. These professionals assist the main teacher by taking attendance, correcting papers, helping them draw teaching schedules, and creating education programs in line with government regulations. Bishop Pure throws more light on the subject.

Although they perform non-teaching tasks, teacher aides are a great source of support to the lead teachers and students. They work alongside the main teaching staff to provide all-round assistance. The primary tasks of a teacher aide, apart from assisting the main teacher, include preparing of teaching materials, assisting and participating in activities that enhance the physical and intellectual development of students, and preparing reading materials as specified by the teaching staff.

According to Bishop Benjamin Pure, in some cases, they are required to take care of small groups of children independently. Some students who have difficulty in understanding lessons are helped on an individual level by the teacher aide. This helps the lead teacher devote their time to other areas of teaching and administration. The work area of a teacher aide also includes assisting the students in overcoming difficulties faced in the intellectual, physical, and behavioral areas of their academic studies.

Bishop Pure opines that to become a successful teacher aide, the most important attribute you must have is patience. You will be required to work with children of varying temperaments and with staff members having different dispositions. Patience and good communication skills are of prime importance to be able to do your tasks effectively. Another important quality is excellent interpersonal skills. It will help you deal with all types of personalities with ease.
